Five controls, all in your account, all faster to switch on than to think about. The timing matters more than the setting.
The argument
Why Early Beats Well-Judged
A deposit ceiling picked while you are still choosing a game is the same number as one picked after an hour of losses. The difference is which version of you chose it, and only one of those two is in any state to decide.
Reductions apply immediately. Increases do not. That asymmetry is deliberate, and it is the reason a limit set today still protects you on a bad night three weeks from now.

What Is on Your Account
- Deposit limit. A ceiling per day, week or month.
- Loss limit. A cap on how far down you can go over a period, whatever you have deposited.
- Session reminder. A prompt showing time played. Time goes first; money follows it.
- Cool-off. A short lock for when you want a pause, not an exit.
- Self-exclusion. A longer shutdown. Once it has started, asking will not end it early — which is the entire point of it.
Every one is a setting rather than a request. Nobody has to approve them.
Being honest
When It Has Stopped Being Entertainment
When the stake was money meant for something else. When a loss is a thing to be won back rather than a thing that happened. When it is being hidden from people close to you. When it is how a bad day gets handled.
None of that is unusual and none of it is a verdict on anybody's character. It is a signal that the list above should be switched on tonight rather than considered.

Nobody Under 21
Accounts are for adults of 21 and over. Age is verified, underage accounts are closed and the balance returned. On a shared handset, lock the device and do not let the browser keep the credentials — that is how most accounts end up somewhere they should not be.

Where to Turn
If gambling is causing harm, to you or to somebody near you, raising it early with a doctor or a counselling service is worth far more than raising it late. Put a self-exclusion on the account while you do, so the decision gets made once instead of every evening.
